Bluff Southland New Zealand Stirling Point, across Foveaux Strait to Stewart Island

Welcome to Bluff,

Pearl of the South  - Home of the Bluff Oyster.

Bluff is located at the bottom of the South Island, New Zealand, in the province of Southland and is the 'Gateway to Stewart Island'.

State highway 1 starts at Bluff's Stirling Point, an attraction in itself. Stirling Point is to New Zealand what Landsend is to Great Britain.

Bluff is unique in the fact that it is the oldest European settled town in New Zealand, added to that it has had a very colourful past, some of which can be found here and at the local Maritime Museum.

Bluff has a lot to offer the discerning traveller with attractions such as Bluff' Maritime Museum, Stirling Point, panoramic views from the viewing platform on top of Bluff Hill (Motupohe), and our highly recommended walking tracks .

There are a lot of events held in Bluff over the span of a year. The major event being, The Oyster Bay Bluff Oyster and Southland Seafood Festival , held in May 2008.
Watch this site as all events will be advertised as they arise.

We look forward to your visit as we are certain you will enjoy what our wee town has to offer.
